What is a Rash?

Rashes are an area of the skin that is irritated and swollen, often accompanied by a noticeable raising of the skin and redness. Generally, a skin rash is an acute reaction of the body. In some cases, though, it can indicate a chronic condition. Depending on the type of rash, symptoms can vary, but the following are some symptoms that are common to most:

  • Drainage

  • Itchiness

  • Oozing

  • Pain

  • Raised skin

  • Redness

  • Scaling

  • Tenderness

In children, rashes can form because of ringworm, or acne, depending on your child’s age. It is often treated with antihistamine medications to help avoid scratching and itching.

When to Seek Treatment

A doctor should see rashes that don’t go away within a few days. Come to Bayside Urgent Care Center to get treatment from one of our medical professionals. We can examine it and determine if you require further testing and will give our recommended treatment plan. Treatment could include prescription creams, ointments, or corticosteroids.

What To Bring When You Visit

Know your family medical history and be prepared to give this information to the doctor. Be ready to tell us about any medications you take (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any past illnesses and surgeries. We may also need your primary care doctor’s phone number and address if we need to transfer records.

Does Bayside Urgent Care Accept Insurance?

Yes. We accept Medicare and most major insurance carriers. If you don’t have insurance or prefer to pay out-of-pocket, our services are reasonably priced and less expensive than an ER visit.
